Iranian ‘Bomb’ to explode in Bengaluru

Iranian feature ‘Bomb a Love Story’ has been selected to go on screen as the opening title at the 11th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES) in India.

Director/writer/actor Peyman Maadi's film will be featured at a section of the Indian event titled contemporary world cinema.

The flick depicts romance in the war stricken Iran in the late 80s. It is about Tehran, the Iranian capital which is being bombed and terror is spread among the civilians.

It shows how love and emotions, life and hope wash away the horrific image of the war.

‘Bomb a Love Story’ has recently been nominated for two awards at the 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards and won several nominations at the 36th Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

The acclaimed title went on screen at the 2018 Bogazici Film Festival in Turkey and the 2019 ÍRÁN:CI Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

The director stars in his own flick, alongside Siamak Ansari, Habib Rezaee, Siamak Safari, and Leila Hatami.

Iranian lineup of ‘Kejal’ by Nima Yar, ‘Sara & Aida’ by Maziar Miri, ‘Tale of the Sea’ by Bahman Farmanara, ‘The Villa Complex Residents’ (Villa Residents) by Monir Qeidi, ‘Wild Jonquils’ by Rahbar Qanbari, and ‘Yellow’ by Mostafa Taqizadeh will also go on the BIFFES screen in a section titled the Country Focus.

The 11th edition of the BIFFES will be held in India on February 21-28, 2019.
